Longtime Nashville sideman, guitarist Bill Cooley, has released the fourth album under his own name. “In Search of Home,” like his previous albums, feature his own compositions. This time, however, he goes it alone. No rhythm sections, no string sections and no horn sections. He gives full expression to his songs with solo guitar arrangements….with two exceptions. On Dad’s Blues, Bill is joined on guitar by his son, Aaron, who has already established himself through his playing, singing and writing with his band, Gang Forward. The Jesse Winchester tune, “That’s What Makes You Strong,” features Grammy winner Kathy Mattea on vocal. Bill has been Kathy’s guitarist on stage and in the studio for 26 years. The current “Acoustic Living Room” tour features just the two of them onstage, playing new songs they’ve worked up at weekly sessions in her living room recently, as well as her classic hits.
In Search of Home
Album of original compositions for solo guitar. The two exceptions are “Dad’s Blues,” where Bill’s son Aaron joins him for a guitar jam. And “That’s What Makes You Strong,” a Jesse Winchester song featuring 2 time Grammy winner Kathy Mattea on vocal.
